which brand of cell phone should i get to be able to use it in the U.S. and also in tobago?
i was told by digicel that i needed 850/1900 frequency, unlocked, quad band. who carries these? with whom can i sign up when i'll be here for a few months and in tobago for a few months?
i don't have/use a cell so i'm totally new at this. thank you.
Assuming you are going to use Digicell GSM service while in Tobago, you do not have to purchase a tri-band or a quad band phone.You can purchase a cheap unlocked North American dual band GSM phone (GSM850/1900) Nokia has some cheap but excellent quality dual band phones. Even if you purchase the phone locked, a basic nokia phone is simple to unlock and wont cost you anything. America's GSM providers are the same as Digicell (GSM850/1900) so there would be no need to spend extra money on a quadband. My recomendation for providers would be Cingular or T-Mobile pre pay while in the States and Digicell while in Tobago
