If I buy a cell phone from Sprint or Cingular, can I have a T-Mobile Plan?
I wanted to know that because Sprint have pretty neat cell phone, but I love T-Mobile. I prefer to stay with T-mobile. I just wanted to know if I buy a Sprint phone can I have a Tmobile plan?
Sprint's phones will not work with T-Mobile. Sprint's phones are CDMA, which don't use sim cards. T-Mobile's phones and network are GSM, which require a sim card in order to work. They are two completely different technologies and are not compatible with each other. Cingular, on the other hand, is also a GSM carrier. In order to use a Cingular phone with T-Mobile, the phone has to be unlocked to accept other GSM carriers sim cards. A phone bought from Cingular will be locked to Cingular's network. You can find unlocked phones on eBay. If you decide to get an unlocked phone, you will have to get the settings for messaging and web sent to your phone, or have a customer service employee in the tech department walk you through setting it up. If not, then messaging and web will not work on your phone.
