Cell phone suggestions?
I am planning to buy a new cell phone. I need touchscreen, radio, cam and bluetooth features. Most important of all..it should look good! Any suggestions??
It is ok if it has not yet been launched in India.
Remi you have quite a few options:
HTC Touch is not a bad option although u'll miss an FM. Symbian based phones such as Sony P990i is retailing in the market @15,000 only. However they are way too slow and the sound quality ain't as good as the walkman series.
The phone with an FM tuner as well is an O2 Atom which is retailing @19,000 for base model and INR 25,000 for Atom Exec which have an amazing Intel 620 Mhz processor (http://www.gsmarena.com/o2_xda_atom_life-1834.php)
1 GB ROM and an expandable memory slot for SD card. I used one myself - the only problem is that O2's service in India sucks big time. But the phone was quite nice, fast, small, handy, has stereo front firing speakers and a very bright 256k display. Battery life was 1.5 to 2 days. Syncs well with your PC through Microsoft ActiveSync and has an FM tuner. Watching movies was also fun with windows media player.
I know a lot of people would advise you an iPhone. I must point out a few issues with an iPhone (after having used it myself), stuff it lacks:
- No FM Tuner
- Ringtones need to be set through iTunes
- No Warrenty in India
- Selling @ a wopping 31,000 without any guaranty.
- Sometimes does not sync with ur pc and it would be a huge disapointment coz no service is available to get it fixed.
- Bluetooth does not work in smuggles models here in India
- Battery replacement is an issues. You need to send it back to apple.
As for HTC - well HTC Touch is a nice handset - very sleek and handy with a decent battery backup as wel as price tag of 18,000 running the latest windows mobile 6 edition. However it works only with Airtel currently.
Sony Erricsion P1 is a huge disappointment so i would not advise you to buy it. These folks got P1 all wrong.
I'd say check out IMate or O2. HP aint worth the price - too damn expensive.
So my suggestion is O2 Atom Exec or even better if you go for O2 Atom Life.
Cheers...Bhaskar
